Sierra Leone: Man Remanded in case of wounding

Sheku Rashid Kamara was remanded by Magistrate Hannah Bonnie on Monday July 20, 2020, after he was  arraigned  for allegedly wounding   one Emanuel Cooper, an office assistant working for Eco-bank.

Police alleged that the accused, Sheku Rashid Kamara, on Thursday June 18, 2020, at a car washing point at Tengbeh Town in the west of Freetown, with ill will, wounded Cooper and caused him grievous bodily harm. He is reported to have maliciously wounded Cooper and caused him grievous bodily harm.

According to the police charged sheet, the accused by his actions breached sections 18, 20, and 47 of the Offences against the Persons Act 1861.

He is accordingly charged and is being investigated for Wounding with Intent, Wounding and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm all of which are contrary to the laws of the country.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP) Ibrahim Sheik Mansaray, prosecuted the matter. The accused Kamara had no legal representation. Meanwhile, Magistrate Hannah Bonnie adjourned the matter to July 24, 2020 for further hearing, and Kamara was taken to the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown.
