Annual National Consumer Price Inflation (year-on-year) went down by 1.06 percent from 14.36 percent in June to 13.30 percent in July 2020; but the monthly consumer price inflation went up by 0.97 percent from 0.29 percent in June to 1.26 percent in July 2020, according to Statistics Sierra Leone Consumer Price Index July 2020.
Annual Consumer Price Inflation
According to the Annual (Year-On-Year) Consumer Price Inflation, food and non-alcoholic beverages increased from 16.94 percent in June to 17.27 percent in July 2020.
The Consumer Price Index shows that alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics declined by 2.18 percentage points from 5.83 percent in June to 3.65 percent in July; clothing and footwear declined by 0.54 percent from 7.86 percent in June to 7.32 percent in July; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels declined by 2.87 percentage points from 5.83 percent in June to 2.96 percent in July 2020; furniture, household equipment and household maintenance declined from -1.18 percent in June to -1.31 percent in July 2020; health declined by 2.76 percentage point from 21.78 percent in June 2020 to 19.02 percent in July; transport declined by 4.41 percent from 15.00 percent in June to 10.59 percent in July; communication increased from -1.29 percent in June to 5.56 percent in July; recreation and culture increased from 5.94 percent in June 2020 to 6.41 percent in July; for Education, no change between June, and July; restaurant and hotels declined by 5.53 percent from 28.65 percent in June to 23.12 percent in July; and miscellaneous goods and services declined by 5.94 percentage point from 8.87 percent in June to 2.93 percent in July.
Monthly Consumer Price Inflation
According to the monthly consumer price inflation, food and non-alcoholic beverages increased from 1.29 percent in June to 2.33 percent in July 2020; alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics declined by 1.48 percentage point from 1.54 percent in June to 0.06 percent in July; clothing and footwear declined by 0.10 percent from 1.75 percent in June to 1.65 percent in July; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels increased from 0.05 percent in June to 0.01 percent in July; furniture, household equipment and household declined by 0.73 percent from 1.62 percent in June to 0.89 percent in July; health increased from -4.91 percent in June to 0.32 percent in July ; transport declined by 2.38 percentage points from 3.61 percent in June to 1.23 percent in July; communication declined by 1.98 percentage point from 1.00 percent in June to -0.98 percent in July; recreation and culture increased from 0.59 percent in June to 1.56 percent in July; restaurants and hotels declined by 1.08 percentage point from 1.29 percent in June to 0.21 percent in July; and miscellaneous goods and services declined by 3.88 percent from 1.48 percent in June to -2.40 percent in July 2020.
For Education, no change is noticed between June and July, 2020.
