Saliue Barrie, aka, Sal Bee a local hip-hop musician in the west of Freetown, has on Sunday 30, 2020 explained that music has greatly contributed in changing his life story in the society.
Bee said that before now society had viewed him as someone with no hope in life, “but now music has made me to be respected not only in the society I live, but any place I go”. He added that music has made him travelled to places that he never thought he would ever travel to and has also made him live his dream.
He said that he started his career in music when he was age 11, and has recorded many songs like: ‘Na we zone’, ‘Ar don bloody’, ‘Pull up’ and many more.
He criticized the divisions amongst Sierra Leonean entertainers which he said is accounting for the lack of any significant impact in the international music scene.
He added that the division among the entertainers has distracted them from the development of the industry as a whole, and forced their attention selfishly on themselves.
“Instead of coming together to work as one for the interest of the industry they are working on self-interest,” he insisted.
He reiterated that unity among entertainers would help develop not only the musicians, but the entertainment industry as a whole.
He also said that the refusal of the government to pay attention to the entertainment industry is another leading factor which has caused the down fall of the industry.
