Magistrate Joseph Tobby has admitted Turay Bundu, 74, of Mende Koyagbema in Kenema City to bail on August 31, 2020.
Bundu was admitted to bail in the sum of Le 50 million. The Accused was charged to court for sexual penetration of a child contrary to section 19 of the sexual offences Act No. 12 of 2012.
According to the prosecution, the accused in February, 2020 at Mende Koyagbema in Kenema, engaged in an act of sexual penetration of a 15-year-old girl.
Bail was granted to the accused in the sum of Le 50m, with the condition that two sureties must stand as guarantors to ensure that the accused present himself to the court anytime needed.
The sureties should be responsible citizens and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should provide valid ID Cards, and bail should be approved by the assistance admin of the court.
In the same court room, Lansana Sullay of Saama village was sentenced to Fourteen Days (14days) in prison by Magistrate Tobby for Larceny Contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
The Accused on Tuesday August 11, 2020, at Saama Village, Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District in the eastern province of the Republic of Sierra Leone, stole quantity of pepper valued at Le 200,000, property of Aminata Abu. He pleaded for mercy and was sentenced to 14 days’ in prison.
The matters were prosecuted by Inspector A.M. Teh and Inspector A.S. Musa attached to the legal and Justice Support Department at the Kenema Police Division.
