Sierra Leone: Egypt donates COVID-19 medical supplies to S/Leone

 The Arab Republic of Egypt through the Sierra Leone Embassy has on Wednesday September 9, 2020, donated medical supplies to Sierra Leone which had originally been intended for use in fighting the Coronavirus pandemic in that country. The donated items include 1841 sterile gloves, 2590 isolation overall, 1042 face shield, 729 medical plastic glasses, 218 long neck medical plastic boots (Cosalic), 704 medical injection exhaust (Capacity six liters).

The supplies had been air-freighted, and were received at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi by dignitaries from the ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Egypt.

Presenting the Medical consignment, the Assistant Minister of the Department of African Organization in the Ministry of Egypt’s Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Soha Gendi said the two countries share close international relations and have been enjoying excellent bilateral ties for a lengthy period.

“The donation is to show our global solidarity in the fight against the global pandemic…the consignment would complement the effort of the government of Sierra Leone in the fight against COVID-19,” she said.

Ambassador Gendi noted that the donated items are part of the numerous support Egypt had given to Sierra Leone.

The Sierra Leone Ambassador to Egypt, Morie Fofana, when receiving the medical supplies, said the current government of Egypt is working in sync with the existing bilateral relationship both countries had been sharing, adding that Sierra Leone would continue to foster and strengthen bilateral relationship between the countries. He pledged that the donated items would be used for the right purpose.

In his closing remarks, Ambassador Fofana expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Egyptian government for their generous support, adding that their donation is timely as the country continues to battle with the disease.
