Sierra Leone: SLCAA cautions intending travelers

The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), has said in statement on Saturday September 12, 2020,  that the Royal Air Maroc has not expressed an official desire to resume operations to the Freetown International Airport since President Juluius Maada Bio reopened the airport to commercial flight operation on July 22, 2020.

“The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), therefore advises all intending travelers to take the necessary precaution before buying Air Maroc ticket, be it online or through a travelling agent, until further notice.”

SLCAA said in the statement that the travelling public will be duly informed when Air Maroc resumes commercial flight operations to the Freetown International Airport.

Meanwhile, the SLCAA assures the public of its commitment to providing a safe, secure, effective, efficient and environmentally friendly civil aviation system in Sierra Leone.

It could be recalled that on Monday March 16, the government of Sierra Leone announced that all commercial flights to and from Freetown Lungi’s International Airport (FNA) will be suspended as of Sunday March 22, as a measure contain the spread of the new coronavirus.
