A non-governmental organization, WAYout, which aims at changing the lives of street youths, has said in statement on Monday it is set to produce a movie titled ‘Ghost killer’. The movie portrays life in the cliques, street life, poverty, loss of dreams and lack of education which is the circumstance of mostly male youths, and their star gang members. The story is about two members of opposing gangs who were united through music.
Within two decades, Sierra Leone cliques have transformed peripheral social clubs to warring cliques, with Blood and Black Street at the heart of criminal and political violence. WAYout works with the youths and members of gangs who live in the street as a means of survival but they leave their colours at the gate when coming to WAYout to learn.
WAYout employed Fal. G, a long time member of the organization and ex-Gang leader, to work with other gangs from five different gang groups in Freetown.
The youths have been encouraged to take part in the movie in order to learn new skills which will transform their lives from street odds.
The Organisation helps vulnerable and conflict affected young people through the arts; enabling marginalized youths to be re-engaged; promoting artistic freedom, education and empowerment; and encourage youths to tell their own stories in their own ways.
