Exporters in the Eastern Region have donated monies which sum up to Le17 million which is being used to construct a garden plant cocoa and cashews trees, and flowers to beautify the Kenema Police Station.
The AIG East, Mr. Thomas M. Lahai, summoned a commanders’ meeting after the money had been put together, and it was unanimously agreed that a peace garden, which will not only serve as a protection for the planted crops, but as well beautify the station, must be constructed.
The work has now reached an advanced stage, and police officers and the people of Kenema have now started appreciating the difference which the project is aiming at.
In an interview, the robust police boss noted that his leadership is all about creativity and initiative. He said he is doing his best to garner the right combination of team that would complement their effort as a leader. He opined that he is very pleased with the present team he is working with, noting that they are working in unison. He revealed that his dream was not only to give equity security to the east, but also to create development within his area of responsibility.
Talking about the peace garden, the AIG – East revealed that the garden will serve as a symbol of synergy between the Sierra Leone Police and members of the Kenema Community, more especially the cocoa exporters, and Mr. Mohamed C.F. Kallon, Regional Coordinator Produce Marketing Board East, for their reciprocity with regards development in the east of Sierra Leone.
Mr. Lahai disclosed that plans are under way to develop the face look of the entire compound. But he was quick to say that it would be accomplished by the unwavering support of his tasking and coordinating group and the entire personnel in the region.
He cautioned them l to continue with a feeling of strength and enthusiasm that they had overwhelmingly nursed in their hearts and mind to develop Kenema and by extension the east. He ended by saying that professional dispensation of duties is the cradle for development.
