The Sierra Leone Network on the Right to Food (SiLNoRF) has on Tuesday September 22, 2020, concluded a two-day engagement with members of its 16 network member organisations in Makeni City, Bombali District.
The two-day engagement and training exercise is geared towards training SiLNoRF members on effective communication strategies; developing short messages on the right to food and land in order to enhance SiLNoRF’s visibility; and to develop a joint implementation plan for six months for the newly approved Community Empowerment and Capacity Building Projects.
The meeting attracted participants from Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Port Loko, Kono and Bombali, including the four Regional Coordinators and Directors alongside their program staff. The Communication training was facilitated by the Head of the Mass Communication Department, University of Makeni (UNIMAK), Mathew Kanu. Some of the topics deliberated on include, Using Communication as a tool to Enhance Community Development; Using Social Media for Development; and Strategies in Developing Media Campaign Messages. The Manager for the Community Empowerment Project (CEP) Ibrahim Barrie, and the Manager of Capacity Building Project(CBP), John Y . Tarawalie outlined the overviews, objectives and targets of their projects.
