Sierra Leone: Orange Money & Access Bank in bank 2 wallet

As a way of bringing banking services closer to its customers, Orange Money and Access Bank have, on Friday October 30th, 2020, launch bank to wallet at their shop in Rawdon Street Freetown. This service   lets Access Bank customers have the opportunity to use orange money to cash out from the bank without any problem.

Explaining to journalists and  press men and customers on the unique selling point of the service, Head of Strategic Marketing and Partnership at Orange, Abibatu Baxter, said that orange money is an electronic wallet which is a simple digital alternative to conduct and manage all financial services and transactions. 

She added that Orange is used to partnering with banks with Access Bank being the fourth they have worked with, “with  more opting to come because our service is first class and has been helping and still helping Sierra Leoneans.”

Sadia Kanu, Assistant Manager Partnership Orange Money, explained the steps that customers could take to access the service to transfer money to and from their orange money wallet to their Access Bank Account. She explains:  firstly, one must register with orange money using short code #144# select 6, after you select 1, which will show you link my bank account. Then you will see all the list of Orange’s bank partners, and subscribe in this case to Access Bank which is number 4.  Then enter your orange money secret code then you will receive your activation key SMS.  Give it to the bank. The key could be activated only after a short space of time after receiving the activation key SMS. One is advised to be around the bank so when you receive your key you can easily give it to the bank. She further said that the service is very safe and user friendly for all classes of people, “hence you have your account with orange.”

Country Managing Director Access Bank, Ganiyu Sanni, described the event as historic for Access Bank, and added: “Sierra Leoneans will see this taking us to the next level.” “We are going to do everything to ensure that more people in the rural area in the disbursement of loanes used this service.”
