Police officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department at Ross Road Police Station, Freetown have on Monday November 16, 2020 arrested one Abdul Karim Kamara of 27C Rose Street, Kissy, who allegedly obtained the sum of Le 29,000,000 (twenty-nine million Leones) from one Madam Esther Moijoi by falsely pretending that he was a magistrate and that he would assist the complainant in her various business transactions.
According to Moijoi , the accused Karim Kamara, was posing as a Magistrate of the same name. She added that sometime in 2019, the accused approached her at her Wellington residence, and purporting to be “Magistrate AKK” who was presiding in a Magistrate Court in Kailahun. She further revealed that the accused also promised to assist her in her business and obtained the sum of Le 29,000,000 from her.
She said that ever since she entrusted the said money to the self-styled magistrate he disappeared into thin air, and that all efforts to locate him proved futile. According to the victim, the accused’s disappearance prompted her to report the matter to the police who had also been searching for the self-styled “Magistrate AKK” but to no avail.
She revealed that “Magistrate AKK”, as he calls himself, ran out of luck and was arrested by police at Ross Road in Freetown, as he tried to escape.
