Sierra Leone: Thieves ransack Freetown Cheshire Home

Sources close to the Freetown Cheshire  home situated at Cline Town, in the east end of Freetown have revealed that in the early hours of Monday November 16 , 2020, burglars broke into the Freetown Cheshire Home and took away 10 laptop computers worth millions of Leones belonging to the institution.

Dr. Abdulai Dumbuya is the director of Freetown Cheshire Home. He revealed that on the night in question, he was at his residence monitoring the CCTV camera installed at the home through his mobile phone when at about 1:00am, he noticed suspicious movement on screen which heightened his curiosity, and he became keen to know what was going on. He said that he saw a certain individual opening the door to the office and later cut off the CCTV connection.

He further explained that, on noticing the suspicious activity, he immediately alerted the security guard on night shift by the name of Mustapha Turay, who went into action and apprehended one Ibrahim Mansaray, a Dragon Security Guard deployed to secure the said home.

Director Dumbuya also stated that his institution had contracted Dragon Security Company to provide security for the said home, and that Ibrahim Dumbuya and other guards were subsequently assigned to provide security for his institution. He said that what baffled him the most was that when he arrived at the Ross Road Police Station the following morning and discovered that this same security guard who was assigned to protect his institution was the same person that had broken into one of the offices and stole the said computers.

He disclosed that this is not the first time thieves had broken into the said home and stolen property from there, including computers.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Mansaray is at the Ross Road Police Station helping with the investigations.
