Sierra Leone: Mother & Son Docked in case of obtaining money by false pretenses

Yabom Posseh and Santigie Kamara mother and son, were on Wednesday, November 2nd 2020 brought to answer charges at the Magistrate Court in   Ross Road presided by Magistrate Alhaji Sulaiman Koroma on one count of obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

The particulars of offence furthered that the said accused persons on September 3rd 2020, at Jui, Freetown, obtained the sum of twenty-seven million Leones from the victim, Emmanuel Vincent, by falsely pretending that they had a four room and a parlour apartment for rent.

Lawyer Madieu Sesay represented both accused persons. He asked the Magistrate to give him time to have discussions with his clients and promised he would bring positive results to the court on the next date of hearing the matter.

Lawyer M. P. George represented the complainant. She intimated to the court that her client resides in Rutile Southern Sierra Leone and as such finds it difficult to be attending court in Freetown, and asked for the Magistrate to give a short adjournment.

The learned Magistrate, however, after listening to the argument from both sides, adjourned the matter.
