Sierra Leone: Duo remanded over theft of valuables

John Momoh and Mohamed Alie Kamara were both sent into remand after they were arraigned before Magistrate Mark Ngegba at the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 on Pademba Road in Freetown on alleged theft of electronic items and physical cash valued over Le11, 300,000, property of Sidiratu Mariama Jalloh.

Police alleged that the accused persons on Tuesday June 9, 2020, break and entered the dwelling house of Sidiratu Mariama Jalloh at No.4 Musu Drive,  Off Mahera Road, Lungi, and stole an android phone valued at Le4,000,000, four musical speakers valued at Le 1.6 million, one Sharp television set valued at Le 3, 5000,000, a DVD player valued at Le 550,000, one memory stick valued at Le 150,000, a set of jewelries valued at Le 1,000,000 and cash of Le250,000.

Both accused were charged with burglary and larceny contrary to law.

The accused had no legal representation and the matter was prosecuted by State Counsel Joan Bull.

Magistrate Mark Ngegba sent both accused persons to remand at the Male Correctional Facility on Pademba Road in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to Monday January 18, 2021.
