Sierra Leone: Alleged human trafficker arraigned in court

Saidu Barrie was on Tuesday January 19, 2021, arraigned before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1on Pademba Road, onĀ  allegation of human trafficking and obtaining money by false pretenses was on Tuesday.

The accused is being preliminary investigated on four count charges: conspiracy to commit human trafficking,  engage in human trafficking, conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretenses.

Police alleged that the accused person on Saturday  August 1,  2020 and Monday 31st August 2020 at Bai Bureh Road conspired to traffic Mariama Fouguba Jalloh for the purpose of exploitation.

It was also alleged that the accused person on the same date and at the same place obtained the sum of 25 million Franc Guinea (Le25 million) by falsely pretending that he would facilitate her travelling to Sierra Leone for the purpose of employment knowing same to be false.

The accused was sent into remand and the matter adjourned to h January 25, 2021.
