Sierra Leone: SLFA aspirants call for harmony ahead of Congress

The two front runners in the upcoming Sierra Leone Football Association elective congress, Madam Isha Johansen and Rodney Michael, and other aspirants vying for the vice and exco positions have called for peace, unity and a healthy elective football campaign.

In an emotional short video, the two dynamic leaders delivered a joint statement where they admonished one,  stakeholders and their supporters to maintain peace. They used the peace statement with the following words:  Johansen, “In February this year, the Sierra Leone Football Association will be going into an elective congress where we will be electing a new team. Our slogan this year is changing the narrative.” She went on to wish all of the other candidates a very “fruitful, genuine, and healthy campaign”.

Anthony Navo Junior said: “Let’s work together as brothers and sisters for football and for peace.” Together, let’s promote peace.

Rodney Michael appealed for calm among opposing supporters and called on them to avoid temptations to be provoked.

He said that his character had been  attacked from two persons, and condemned such attacks as inimical for the growth of Football in Sierra Leone.

He further said that ‘Team Rodney’ has been advised to abstain from any exchange or from reacting to any insults or misbehavior.

“We must always maintain our respect and opt to promote his qualities and good deeds with dignity and not the ill-mannered tactics others have adopted as their campaign strategy.”

He appealed to all his supporters and well-wishers to exercise extreme restraint and ignore the provocations and insults.

“We are confident of winning, and only those with nothing to promote in their candidates will choose to insult others,” he said, adding, “Let us continue to be patient as victory is near! One Game One Family.”
