The Government of the People’s Republic of China has donated 200,000 doses of SinoPharm COVID-19 vaccine, and 201,600 pieces of disposable needles and syringes to the government of Sierra Leone, Ministry of Health said in a statement on Thursday..
The authorities in Sierra Leone have received the donated items yesterday at a ceremony held at the Lungi International Airport.
“This first batch of COVID-19 vaccines from Government of the People’s Republic of China to the people Sierra Leone reflects the long term traditional friendship and deep mutual trust between the two countries,” the Health Ministry said in the statement.
The Ministry said the vaccine will play an important role in Sierra Leone’s drive to prevent and contain more COVID-19 epidemic in the country.
