The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on May 27, 2022, received a copy of the Report on the Audit of the National COVID-19 Emergency Response Centre (NaCOVERC) for the period 1st July to 31st December 2020 by the Audit Service Sierra Leone.
The Commission said in a statement on Friday that it has commenced immediate examination of the same to identify areas for swift intervention.
“The ACC attaches utmost importance to the Auditor General’s Reports. As such, it will continue to provide updates to the public through Serialized Media Releases on the many interventions and outcomes in regard this recently published Report,which will result in investigations, prosecutions, convictions, recovery, prevention measures, and, inappropriate circumstances, exoneration and clearing of persons,” the ACC said in the statement.
“More importantly, the Commission is also cognizant of the Constitutional role of Parliament regarding this issue, and it shall be collaborating with them. In that regard, it will work with Parliament and Audit Service Sierra Leone to ensure that each party performs its role to ensure that the various issues of concern are speedily and accordingly addressed without favour for anyone.”
The public is therefore advised to continue to exercise patience while the Commission does a summary and careful review of the Report. “As usual with all Audit reports since 2018, the Commission shall update the public on progress,”
The ACC wishes to thank and appreciate the Audit Service Sierra Leone for their diligence and sustained efforts in the promotion of transparency, accountability and integrity in the Public Service.
