Freetown, October 18, 2024 – In the ongoing murder trial of Abdul Kpaka, the fourth prosecution witness, Princess Wilson, Manager of Virtues Funeral Home, testified that the accused was in deep distress, crying bitterly over the body of his deceased girlfriend, Sia Fatu Kamara. Wilson described Kpaka’s emotional state at the funeral parlor, where Sia’s body was prepared for preservation.
The trial, presided over by Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens, involves charges of murder and perverting the course of justice. The indictment accuses Kpaka of murdering Sia on August 13, 2024, in Mambo, Goderich.
During her testimony, Wilson detailed her duties, explaining how she inspected the deceased’s body and discovered several scratches and a cut lip. She recalled Kpaka’s grief, which led her to inquire about his relationship with the deceased, to which he responded that Sia was his girlfriend.
The defense, led by lawyer Emmanuel Teddy Koroma, objected to the submission of photos taken of the deceased, arguing that proper notice had not been given. However, the judge overruled the objection, allowing the prosecution to admit the photos as evidence.
Despite pleas from defense counsel for bail, citing Kpaka’s constitutional right to liberty and the assurance that he was not a flight risk, the judge denied the application. The trial has been adjourned until October 25, 2024, with Kpaka remaining in custody.
