The forthcoming award ceremony, which is themed, ‘African Hip Hop, a Heritage to Preserve’, is set to take place in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso from the 7th to 10th of September 2023. The categories of the awards include ‘Best African Rapper’, ‘Best Local Language Rapper,’ ‘African Rap Hope,’ and ‘Best Freestyler Rapper’.

Kao Denero said  he is very excited to have been nominated among other famous Africans, including Black Sheriff, Falz, Akeem, etc. He said that had it not been for the support of Sierra Leoneans and his fans across the globe, his crafts and hard work would have been unrecognized today. “So Sierra Leoneans and fans making me get this nomination, I am still asking them to vote for me so that the trophy will be brought home. That is a victory not only for Kao, but also for the entire country. I believe that all of us are in this fight together, so let’s end it together,” he said.

He encouraged artists mostly the New Skools to work hard on their talents and their dreams. He said talent is nothing if it is not mastered.
