Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), an annual music awards designed to promote African music has recently nominated Aminata Bangura, aka Nata, a US-based Sierra Leonean rapper, for the category of ‘Best Female Rap Act’ 2023 due to her rich ‘lyrics and songs contents’.
Nata has been nominated among other renowned African stars, like, Femi One of Kenya, Eno Barony of Ghana, Rosa Ree of Tanzania; Feli Nuna of Ghana, Askia of Cameroon and Ami Yerewolo of Mali.
According to Nata, her efforts in the music industry had earned her recognition in Sierra Leone’s music industry, but the support from Sierra Leoneans was what gave her the recent nomination.
She thanked all those who love and support his music this far.
According to her she started a career in music at 7, when she was motivated by her colleagues and some family members. “Those people knew that I had natural talent. After I was motivated by those people, I started involving in creative arts, singing in school choirs, performing on dance teams and writing poetry. Then, hip-hop was all I was influenced by. So today with the support of my fans and family, I have been nominated for AFRIMA. I say many thanks to Sierra Leoneans home and abroad for your kind support towards my career. I am also asking you to vote for me so as to win the trophy,” she said.
AFRIMA is an annual award ceremony designed to promote, reward and celebrate the distinct rich African music globally. It brings along millions of music-loving fans by promoting African Music to splendid heights beyond the borders of the continent. It was established by the International Committee AFRIMA in partnership with the African Union (AU).
