Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, His Excellency (H.E.) Atumanni Dainkeh, has encouraged Sierra Leoneans across the Country to participate in the ongoing voter register campaign for the forthcoming multitier elections.
Ambassador Dainkeh was in Kerene District educating residents about the significance of the registration process which he said is the first step that guarantees every Sierra Leonean of voting age the right to participate in the electioneering process slated for June next year.
One of the Ambassador’s video messages on peace and voter registration was trending on various social media platforms.
During his face-to-face engagement at Dibia Chiefdom, the event attracted hundreds of residents at Gbinti Town. Engagements at Mafonda Makerembe Chiefdom were held at Makesseh and Gbonkonka villages, respectively.
As a son of the soil, the Ambassador mobilized key stakeholders and residents in Dibia and Mafonda Makerembe, two neighboring chiefdoms in Kerene District where community people in full attendance pledged their support and expressed their willingness to participate in the process.
Residents in the two chiefdoms commended the Ambassador’s act of nationalism and also lauded President Bio for appointing their son to such an esteemed position in his government.
Addressing the different communities, H.E. Atumanni’s message hinges on three areas: community participation in the ongoing registration process, the good works of President Bio, and the maintenance of peace for sustainable development in the Sierra Leone.
He said that the registration process is a key step which legalizes one’s right to vote.
Recounting the good works of the Bio led administration, as a means of persuading the citizens to massively vote to guarantee the President a second term, H.E. Dainkeh that no government has achieved what Bio’s government had accomplished within such a short span. He spoke about President Bio’s free quality education, “uninterrupted” electricity supply, health system strengthening, citing the mobile clinic efforts in remote places, among others.
He encouraged people to avoid chaos or anything that could alter the peaceful co-existence in the society, and added that any act of violence is deterrence to development.
The Ambassador dissuaded residents from allowing politicians to persuade them to adopt violence in politics, and re-emphasized that that Sierra Leone is their only home.
Meanwhile, residents in the chiefdoms expressed positive sentiments towards the Ambassador’s efforts in making them comprehend the ECSL registration process in relation to the 2023 Multitier Elections.
