The APC headquarters where the NAC meeting was held
The National Advisory Council (NAC) of the All People’s Congress (APC) on July 22, held a meeting at the party headquarters in Freetown to better position the party after a year which was marked by limited progress due to the outcomes of the 2023 elections, according to the Party strategic communications unit.
The meeting was attended by stakeholders including regional and district chairmen.
During the marathon NAC meeting, the leadership of the party emphasised the necessity of moving forward and to perform their roles as elected officials mandated to propel the party’s agenda.
Despite the absence of the 2023 APC standard-bearer Dr Samura Kamara at the meeting, key resolutions were discussed.
Consequently, the leadership of the APC party agreed on the following actions: Fifthly, the leadership committed to a thorough review of the agreement for National Unity Document and pledged to follow through on the recommendations regarding Electoral management, institutional and legal reforms outlined in the Tripartite Committee recommendations.
Additionally, the Party acknowledged delays stemming from the June 2023 elections. Thus, the party agreed to commence membership registration one year prior to the national delegate conference and subsequently begin primary elections the following year. This directly must be adhered to according to the party’s new constitution.
Moreover, the leadership resolved that the party also announced the inauguration of Ansu Bernard as the new National Young Congress Leader.
In a bid to engage stakeholders at the grassroot levels, the APC Party leadership agreed on a nationwide tour to engage with party members across district, updating them on the Tripartite Committee report and future party initiatives.
The Party also pledged to provide timely information through the National Publicity Secretariat to combat the spread of misinformation and disinformation.
The leadership of the party also called for concerted efforts among members to promote the ideals of the party.
