Appointment Committee Vets Six Presidential Nominees

Freetown, 24th March 2035 – The Committee on Appointment and Public Service, chaired by Honourable Mathew Sahr Nyuma, has conducted interviews with six presidential nominees for various positions. The vetting process, held under oath and broadcast live, aimed to assess the nominees’ competence and suitability for their respective roles.

In his opening remarks, Honourable Nyuma welcomed the nominees and the public, emphasizing the committee’s role in scrutinizing candidates to ensure their qualifications and track records align with the demands of their positions. He highlighted that the interviews focused on educational backgrounds, professional achievements, and adherence to strict procedural standards.

The nominees interviewed were:

  1. Ambassador Mohamed Foday Yumkella – Proposed Ambassador to Sierra Leone Embassy, Conakry, Republic of Guinea.
  2. Dr. Abdul Rahim Jalloh – Proposed Deputy Minister I, Ministry of Energy.
  3. Mr. John Sumailah – Proposed Chairman, Rokel Commercial Bank.
  4. Madam Mary Massah Katta – Proposed Member, Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA).
  5. Mr. David Fortune – Proposed Board Member, Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion.
  6. Mr. Moses Tiffer Baio – Proposed Chief Immigration Officer.

The vetting process concluded with the committee preparing recommendations for parliamentary approval of the nominees.
