Guma Building, Freetown—Monday, March 24, 2025. The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alpha Sesay, along with Deputy Minister of Justice, Madam Saptieu Elizabeth Saccoh, have officially launched the development of the e-Justice Blueprint, a transformative initiative marking a pivotal step in Sierra Leone’s digital transformation journey within the justice sector.
This groundbreaking project, a central component of the Sierra Leone Digital Transformation Project, seeks to modernize and digitize the country’s justice system. By enhancing efficiency and transparency, the initiative aims to improve governance and ensure that justice becomes more accessible to all citizens.
During the launch event, Attorney General Alpha Sesay emphasized the significance of the project. “The e-Justice Blueprint marks a crucial step toward modernizing Sierra Leone’s justice system, making it more accessible, efficient, and transparent. As a government, we are committed to enhancing the rule of law and ensuring that justice is not only a privilege but a right for all citizens, regardless of their location. This blueprint will address key gaps in our current systems and ensure that we are well-equipped to handle the challenges of a digital age.”
The e-Justice Blueprint development is being spearheaded by the Canadian Academic and Industrial Network (CAAIN), a consulting firm renowned for its expertise in digital solutions and justice sector reforms. CAAIN’s international experience will guide Sierra Leone in adopting innovative technologies and leveraging global best practices during its transition to a digital justice framework.
Project Coordinator Ms. Kumba Musa underscored the importance of collaboration for the success of the initiative. “This project is a collective effort. Every stakeholder, from government officials to citizens, plays a crucial role in the success of the e-Justice Blueprint. Our shared goal is to create a system that serves everyone, and we are committed to working closely with the Ministry of Justice, the legal community, and international partners to achieve this vision.”
The initiative also aims to address systemic inefficiencies, improve service delivery for citizens, and strengthen accountability within the justice system. The Deputy Minister of Justice highlighted that the e-Justice Blueprint represents a commitment to ensuring that Sierra Leone’s legal framework keeps pace with global advancements in technology.
As the project advances, stakeholders across sectors have expressed optimism about the future of the justice sector in Sierra Leone. With sustained leadership from the Ministry of Justice and collaboration with international partners, the e-Justice Blueprint is poised to revolutionize how justice is delivered in Sierra Leone, creating a more integrated, user-friendly, and transparent system for all.
