Auto-electrician admitted to 20 million bail

Yusuf Turay an Auto Electrician has appeared before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba Road Court No.6 in Freetown on the charges of Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916 and Fraudulent conversion contrary to section 20 (1) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916

The Police are claiming that on Saturday 21st August 2021 at Rawdon Street the accused Turay stole a photo shoot light engine valued ten Le 10,000,000 property of Samuel Will. For the second claim the police are saying that the accused fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit Le 70,000 entrusted to him by Samuel Will, the complainant, for the purpose of repairing one photo shoot light engine.

Magistrate Gogra admitted the accused person to bail in the sum Le 20,000,000 with a promise from two sureties that they would ensure the accused is presented anytime he is needed by the court to face trial. Both suretiesmust be resident in the Western Area.

Sergeant 1462 Amiza John prosecuted the case against the accused person and the Magistrate Gogra adjourned the matter to the 27th of January 2022.

In another development, one Alie Suliaman Turay a police officer appeared before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba Road court No.6 in Freetown on a count charge of Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of this alleged crime on Tuesday 4thJanuary 2022 during Operation Restore Sanity at Central Police Station Freetown the accused stole one black TVS Star LX motor bike with registration number ANS 583 valued at Le 9,100,000 whilst in the custody of police constable 15243 Kallon B. The motor bike is the property of one Shekh Mohamed A.B. Coteh

The charges was read to the accused person and he pleaded not guilty

The accused person was not represented by any legal practitioner, and Magistrate Gogra refused to admit him to bail. The matter comes up next on the 18th of January 2022.
