Awooner Renner charged for Wounding and Assault

Julian Awooner Renner Property Manager by Occupation was yesterday 13th March, 2023 charged to court for alleged assault and wounding on complainant Olufemi Syble Boyle Hebron. 

The matter against the accused came up before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No.  1 on Pademba Road, in Freetown.

The accused Julian Awooner Renner is charged on 2 counts of wounding contrary to Section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 and assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861.

According to the particulars of offence on count 1, the accused Julian Awooner Renner on Tuesday 3rd January, 2023 at No. 9 New Signal Hill Road, Freetown, maliciously wounded Olufemi Syble Boyle Hebron.

In count 2 it is stated that the accused on the same date and place assaulted Olufemi Syble Boyle Hebron in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read to the accused he pleaded not guilty.

In his testimony the complainant identified himself as a businessman and recognized the accused.

He recalled he was at home, when a friend by the name of Husain Fawaz came to visit him.

He said soon after he had heard some commotion and when he went their accompanied by his friend to check what was amiss he met the accused’s mother and other people whom he asked to leave the premises.

But he saw other set of people mixing cement in the compound and he also asked them to leave.

But he heard a noise saying he is coming, he is coming, he is coming.

Then he saw the accused punch him on his forehead and push him.

The witness told the Court he was injured and after that he made a report at the Congo Cross Police Station and a Medical Report was given to him and a comprehensive examination was done on him.

But the medical report was not found in the file and the Prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Mansaray asked the Court for the matter to be adjourned so that he could have proper conference with the witness.

At this juncture, the lead defense IP Mammy Esq. applied for bail for his Client which was

granted to the accused in the sum of one hundred thousand Leones, with one surety in like sum, the surety must be employed and to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.

The matter was adjourned to the 21st March, 2023.
