Thursday, May 19, 2022 will be a Red Letter Day for the Paralympic Committee of Sierra Leone as the President of the Paralympic Committee of Azerbaijan, Mr Ilgar Rahinmov who is also Vice president of the International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) will visit Sierra Leone.
During this visit, the guest will meet with government officials, according Unisa Deen Kargbo, the Team Leader of Paralympic Committee of Sierra Leone.
He said Rahinmov will also engage officials of the National Olympic Committee and the Paralympic Committees of Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia on ways to developing Para Sport and Blind Sport. He will take the lead in finding sponsors and partners.
Mr Rahimnov will engage the government of Sierra Leone to support the Paralympic committee.
Deen Kargbo said that the big gain from this visit is that athletes from Sierra Leone will be invited for common training camps in Baku, Azerbaijan .
The Paralympic Committee of Azerbaijan intends to sign Memorandum of Understanding with the Paralympic Committee of Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea on how they can work for the growth and development of Para and Blind Sports.
According to Deen Kargbo, all arrangements have been put in place to welcome the guests. He described the visit as a historic landmark for the growth of Para and Blind Sports in West Africa. The guest will arrive in Sierra Leone on May 19, and will stay till 22nd.
