On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Magistrate Santigie Bangura issued a bench warrant against Rashid Fefegula, a footballer, for alleged cyber bullying directed at Babadi Kamara.
The accused faces charges under Section 44 (1) (b) of the Cyber Security and Crime Act 2021, Act No. 7 of 2021. The charges stem from an incident on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in Freetown, where Fefegula allegedly used his WhatsApp account within the Eastern Region Football Association (E.R.S.A) group to post messages that harassed and bullied Kamara. These messages, disseminated via social media, are believed to have the potential to harm Kamara’s character and incite a breach of peace.
During the hearing, the complainant’s lawyer, Musa Mewa Esq, highlighted the absence of the accused in court and requested a bench warrant for his arrest. Magistrate Bangura granted the request and issued a warrant against both the absent accused person and his sureties. The matter has been adjourned to March 5, 2025.
