Twenty-year-old Abdulai Kamara, a bike rider, made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on a count of escaping from lawful police custody contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the particulars of the offence, the accused on June 1, 2024 at Congo Cross Police Station in Freetown, being a charge suspect awaiting trial, did escape from police custody.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded guilty.
The accused person pleaded with the magistrate to temper justice with mercy on his behalf.
Due to the plea in mitigation by the accused, Magistrate Kekura sentenced him to 12 months in prison.
