A carpenter James David, 30, was on Monday, October 31, 2022, sentence to 18 months in prison for CCTV theft.
The accused made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown and was arraigned on one count charge of Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, it was alleged that the accused on a date between October 1 to October 30, 2022 at Thoronka Drive, Hill Station in Freetown did steal five CCTV Cameras each valued at Le3,000,000 all to the total value of Le15 million in property of Sinneh Kargbo.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor told the bench that there is no available record for the accused persons.
However, the accused pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy.
Magistrate Gogra having heard the plea in mitigation, sentenced the accused to 18 months in prison.
Whiles police constable 14071 Mustapha Massaqoui was prosecuting the matter.
