CEO Canaan Land Microfinance to Face High Court in Case of Le 81 Million Fraud

The Chief Executive officer of Canaan Land Microfinance Company, Thomas Musa Turay whose office is at 35 Charles Street, Freetown was on Thursday 15th August 2024, sent to High Court by Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No.2 Pademba Road for obtaining over eighty one million old Leones from different people by falsely pretending that his company had  tricycles for sale.

After Preliminary Investigation (PI) into the matter at the Magistrate Court, Magistrate Bangura in his ruling said that the Prosecutor ASP Musa Baba led two witnesses and tendered exhibits in support of their case.

He added that all the testimonies and exhibits tendered corroborated.

The learned Magistrate furthered that the prosecutor had adduced sufficient evidence against the accused persons which warranted him to stand trial at the High Court.

The accused was however admitted to bail by Magistrate Santigie Bangura.

It could be recalled that the accused Thomas Musa Turay was charged with   Conspiracy and Obtaining Money by False Pretenses.

According to the charge sheet, the accused committed the offence between the 23rd of January and 27th of February 2024, in Freetown with intent.

The charge sheet further stated that the accused, Turay, also obtained the sum of Eighty-One Million, three Hundred and Fifty thousand old Leones from Abass Kamara by falsely pretending that his company Canaan Land has TVS Tricycle (Kekeh) for sale which is known to be false.

ASP Baba Musa Prosecuted the matter.
