Chief Minister Introduced as Prime Minister by President Bio

Freetown, Sierra Leone – Sierra Leone Chief Minister Dr. Moinina David Sengeh recently revealed that President Julius Maada Bio has introduced him as his Prime Minister on several occasions.

Dr. Sengeh made this disclosure during an interview with SL News Blog, following his visit to Koinadugu, Bombali, and Tonkolili Districts.

“Interestingly, depending on the context, no lesser person but the President sometimes introduces me as his Prime Minister. However, it doesn’t matter what people choose to call me; be it Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Ordinary Minister, Youngman Minister, or Headman Minister, all that isn’t relevant. What matters is that my function among others is to lead in coordination and delivery for the government, and I am enjoying that work,” Dr. Sengeh stated.

He emphasized that titles are not important to him, noting that it is the portfolio he carries that defines his role as Chief Minister.

Dr. Sengeh explained that different countries have various nomenclatures for those who lead coordination across government, and he is humbled to serve the people of Sierra Leone in this capacity.

“President Bio is a fantastic leader and a great mentor. Anytime we talk, I always ensure that I’m with my notepad to take enough notes. The growth and development I have attained over the years are because of President Bio, and I hope the influence he has had on me can be translated to the younger folks,” he added.

During his recent visit, Dr. Sengeh accompanied President Bio to Marampa Mines in Lunsar, where they distributed over $3.5 million through the Community Development Fund to local authorities. They also addressed issues related to Human Capital Development in Makeni. Dr. Sengeh then continued to Kabala to engage residents about the government’s priority areas, dubbed the “Big Five,” and the Tripartite Initiative aimed at fostering national unity.

In a continued effort to evaluate progress and address challenges associated with President Bio’s Big Five Development Agenda, Dr. Sengeh met with the Council of Paramount Chiefs in Masiaka. This strategic assembly brought together Paramount Chiefs from across the nation to provide insights into the accomplishments and obstacles encountered during the implementation of the Big Five Game Changers.
