Cleaner Remanded for Theft at Connaught Cost Recovery Pharmacy

Freetown, Sierra Leone – Ibrahim Sankoh, a 29-year-old cleaner, was remanded in custody by Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 on Tuesday, 11th February 2025, for allegedly stealing over 100 boxes of medicine from the Cost Recovery Pharmacy at Connaught Government Hospital.

Sankoh, who made his first court appearance, faces a charge of Larceny by Servant under section 17 (4) of the Larceny Act 1916. The alleged theft took place on Thursday, 16th January 2025, at the Cost Recovery Pharmacy, Percival Street, Western Area, Freetown. As an employee of the pharmacy, Sankoh is accused of stealing 50 boxes of Immuno Boost capsules, 100 boxes of Azithromycin tablets, 40 boxes of Well Woman 50+ capsules, and other assorted items valued at 93,900 Leones, the property of Fatmata Binta Bah.

When the charge was read to the accused, he did not enter a plea. Prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai informed the court that his witnesses were absent, leading him to request an adjournment to call them.

Magistrate Kekura denied bail and ordered Sankoh to be remanded at the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to 19th February 2025.
