The College of Digital Excellence (CODE) has on Friday, October 27, 2023, held its second matriculation ceremony for new students who are offering various computer programs at the college campus on Congo Cross in Freetown.
CODE has been in existence for the past four years after the Choithram Group Sierra Leone envisioned the setting up of world class tertiary institution by bringing world class Information Communication Technology (ICT) at the doorstep of young people who are inspired into the ICT world.
In her statement, the Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie said that technology is taking over the world; apparently nations must follow the global technological trend with its new revolutionized industries.
She said that the government of Sierra Leone is aware of the potential benefits of technology, adding that through education students would be equipped with the knowledge to thrive and improve the human capital development initiative of the government.
She admonished students that learning does not stop after graduation, but it is a continuous process. It is her hope that when they graduate, they will in turn become experts and contribute to nation building.
Wurie mentioned that the government believes in strong partnership with private learning institutions that are dedicated in bolstering education through ICT.
The Co-Founder and Director of the College of Digital Excellence, Niharika Agnani cited that the college offers skills in various ICT fields that are relevant for the present-day job market.
She added that the students that matriculate have the potential to make great impact in society. She therefore urged the students to be responsible during their course of study.
