Bo District, Sierra Leone (22 February 2025) – In a significant political development, Mrs. Ann Marie Baby Harding has been overwhelmingly elected as the Chairman of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) in Constituency 081, which comprises Wonde, Jaiama, and Bongor Chiefdoms in the Bo District. The election, held on February 22, 2025, saw Mrs. Harding securing 21 votes while her opponent garnered 9 votes in what was described as a transparent election process.
Despite concerns that Mrs. Harding might rely on the influence of her husband, Dr. Prince Alex Harding, the current National Chairman of the SLPP, her constituents passionately requested her to lead them, appreciating her dedication to the political leadership of her home and recognizing the unwavering support for SLPP in the region.
In her victory speech to the large gathering, Mrs. Harding congratulated her colleagues for maintaining peace and decorum throughout the electoral process. She assured her peers in the new Executive that her leadership would be consultative, transformative, and purposeful in advancing the SLPP’s agenda and the development aspirations of her people. Expressing gratitude to her family, friends, party leadership, and traditional authorities, Mrs. Harding acknowledged their support and commitment to her ambition and the SLPP.
Mrs. Harding has served the SLPP with distinction for nearly 25 years in various capacities, playing a critical role in the party’s successes since 1996. Her election victory is notable as it was achieved in the absence of her husband, Dr. Prince Alex Harding, also known as “the Bullet.”
Team Ann Marie Baby Harding congratulated her on your new political assignment!
