Contractor on Remand for Alleged Timber Fraud

Mohamed Moriba Fabbah, 32, a contractor, was on Thursday, August 22, 2024, sent on remand by Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 for an alleged theft of 50 length half-inch iron rod and 80 pieces of timbers.

The accused who made his first appearance and was charged with one count of fraudulent conversion contrary to Section 20 (1) (iv) (a) of The Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, the accused on Saturday, July 27,  2024, at Smart Farm, Upper George Brook Street in the Mountain Rural District in the western area, fraudulently converted to his use or benefit 50 lengths half-inch iron rods, eighty pieces of 2×2 timbers and other assorted items value at seventeen thousand six hundred and fifty Leones(17,650) entrusted to him by Steven Matthew Alieu for safe custody

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

The police prosecutor Sergeant 3379 Bally T. informed the bench that her witness was absent and requested an adjournment.

Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to August 30, 2024.
