Supreme Court Judge, Justice Nicolas Browne Marke has issued a bench warrant against APC Sheriff and eight others inmates for failing to appear before the court during the November Criminal Session.
During the call over ceremony, the learned judge stated that he was at the Freetown Correctional Centre to verify how many inmates have returned to the facility, adding that upon his visit he noticed that a good number of inmates have returned to the Correctional Centre.
There are thirty-one (31) cases set for hearing at the High Court. The cases include Ibrahim Bangura who is standing for the offense of house breaking and Larceny; Foday Sesay Larceny, Abass Koroma also for house breaking and larceny; Ibrahim Sesay, wounding with Intent; Mose Ezikiel Sylvanue Raay, fraudulent conversion; Lansana Turay, wounding with Intent; APC Sheriff and eight others for the offense of operating a private Security Service without Licence; and murder, child stealing, among others.
When the matters were mentioned, all the accused were absent in court.
The state prosecutor A. J. M Bockarie made an application for bench warrant to be executed against all the accused.
The accused were represented by lawyer Cecilia Tucker from the Sierra Leone Legal Aid Board.
The matters were all adjourned to December 6, 2023, for hearing.
