Deputy Minister of Trade Engages Investors

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Madam Fatmata Wurie has said that she and the delegation from the Ministry of Trade and Industry held several business meetings with potential investors during her stay in China for the sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) which was hosted in Shanghai from November 5th to November 10th 2023.

The Delegation included, Head of delegation- Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, madam Fatmata Wurie, Chief Director/Professional Head of the Ministry of Trade and Industry- Mr. Emmanuel Billy Konjoh, Assistant Director of Export Promotion- Sally Diana Rogers, Assistant Director Foreign trade and Regional Integration- Joseph Kanu, and two Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Lidama Archi-Fofana- CEO of Muvah Produce and Derica Palmer- CEO of Ewen’s General Merchandise.

In one of her investment meeting with the Bairong World Trade Centre which is the largest investment group in the world located in Zhengzhou City, Northern part of China, she explained, “I made a presentation on Sierra Leone’s potential for investment group on 10 thematic areas that are in-line with H.E. President Julius Maada Bio’s “Big Five” Manifesto.”

She added that they had a fruitful discussion and they invited them to Sierra Leone to invest.

“The Bairong World largest Investment group showed their eagerness to come to Sierra Leone by the end of 2023,” Madam Wurie disclosed, pointing out that “this official trade and investment agreement is said to create many job opportunities for the people of Sierra Leone and boost the economy through export promotion.”

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is a trade fair hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. This is one of the biggest trade fairs in China.
