The Motor Drivers and General Transport Workers Union has dispelled and disassociated itself from rumour of plan demonstration by commercial transport operators on Monday, August 8, 2022, purportedly towards the increase in fuel prices.
The Union in a statement on Saturday, July 23, 2022, appealed to all commercial drivers to remain peaceful and feel comfortable while they continue to render quality service to the nation.
“We want to assure all drivers that the Motor Drivers and General Transport Workers Union shall do everything possible to seek and protect the interest of drivers nationwide,” the Union said in the statement.
The Union also reminded its members that it is a registered organization under Cap 221 of 1939, which makes them eligible to negotiate on behalf of their members.
