Freetown, 11 July 2024 – The Ambassador of the European Union to Sierra Leone Manuel Muller, the German Ambassador to Sierra Leone Jens Kraus Masse, and the Erasmus+ Focal Point at the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education congratulated and bade farewell to four Sierra Leoneans awarded the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarships for various programmes in Europe this year.
Mustapha Kamara and Amina Bangura will commence their Masters Programmes in Germany, while Alhaji Alusine Kebe and Henry Gibrilla will start their programmes in Hungary and Lithuania, respectively. These scholars are poised to embark on a life-changing journey that promises to expand their horizons and deepen their academic and cultural experiences in Europe.
This event marks another step in enriching lives and opening minds, highlighting the significant impact of international education programs. The students engaged in enriching dialogues with the Ambassadors and the Ministry’s Focal Point, sharing their aspirations and their visions for contributing to Sierra Leone’s development upon their return.
Ambassador Manuel Muller remarked, “The Erasmus Mundus scholarships represent not only an opportunity for academic growth but also a chance to foster intercultural understanding and global cooperation. We are proud of these outstanding students and confident that they will contribute significantly to their fields of study and bring back valuable knowledge and experience to Sierra Leone.”
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) is a high-level integrated transnational study programme at the master level, delivered by an international partnership of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from different countries worldwide. At the end of the programme, students obtain a joint degree or multiple degrees from three universities in at least two countries in Europe. Calls for applications are open between October and February every year.
