Exhibit Clerk Tender Pistol with 8 Live Rounds In Court

Detective Sergeant 8576 Issa Kamara has on Monday, October 23, 2023, tendered a pistol with eight live rounds in court in the ongoing preliminary investigation of unlawful possession of arms against Alimamy Kargbo.

The accused Alimamy Kargbo made his second appearance before magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No1 and was charge with four counts including possession of arms without license contrary to section 11(1) of the Arms and Ammunitions Act No9 of 2012, having in custody small arms without license, unlawful concealment of arms contrary to Regulation 22 of the Arms and Ammunitions Regulation 2014 statutory instrument No 8 of 2014, and keeping greater number of ammunition without license contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

According to the indictments on count one, the accused on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Waterloo Kono Park Waterloo in the Western Area Rural District was found in possession of one black HELLAI pistol without license or lawful authority.

The police further alleged on count two that the accused on the same date and place was found having in custody one black HELLAI pistol without license or lawful authority.

The charge sheet further alleged on count three that, the accused on the same date unlawfully concealed the said pistol.

While count three added that the accused on the same date was found keeping the said pistol with magazine containing eight live rounds without license or lawful authority.

Sergeant Lahaia, an exhibit officer at CID headquarters in  Freetown, said on October 5, 2023, he was on duty when DPC 11692 Jusu P. attached to  the Major Incident Unit, CID headquarters, handed over to him the following exhibits: One black HELLAI pistol with magazine containing eight live rounds, one black and red handle scissor, one scissor with yellow handle, one old screwdriver and small quantity of tar in a black plastic.

The said exhibit, he said, were registered in the court exhibit book against serial number RCE108/2023.

The said items were produced and tendered in court to form part of the evidence.

Magistrate Mark Ngegba refused to admit the accused on bail and adjourned the matter to October 30, 2023.

Police Sergeant 9939 Lahai is prosecuting the matter.
