In life we need people as life will be meaningless without people around us. Man was created to interact with others. That is why on Sunday, November 13, 2022, the Faith Tabernacle Ministries at the Bishop Johnson School Compound, Fourah Bay Road, Freetown celebrated its Annual Family Day and Thanksgiving Service in appreciation to God Almighty for the wonderful transformation He has made in the growth of the church.
The General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Melvin Koso-Coomber welcomed all present and promised them a memorable time.
Whilst introducing the Man of God and Guest Preacher for the occasion, the Leader of the Women’s Department, Sis. Rosaline Koso-Coomber paid tribute to him for what he had done for her and family in times past, and encouraged everyone present to be prepared to tap a word from the message he will deliver.
In response, the Man of God, Rev. Donald Ken-Leigh firstly thanked God for the gift of life and congratulated the church for yet another year of celebrations.
The topic of his message was: “The value of relationship”, and his text came from Proverbs Chapter 18 v. 24 which reads “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother”. He said that in order to enjoy any relationship, steps must be taken to build that relationship. That relationship is very important to mankind, adding that all of us, in one way or the order, need somebody for us to succeed in life, as no one can work in isolation.
He added that we must not relate with the wrong people but choose friends that could add value to our lives. He, therefore, encouraged everyone to have the fear of God.
The Family Day Thanksgiving Service is an annual event that incorporates a fund-raising competition by families for sustainable growth of the church. This year the Conteh Family emerged as winner.
An unveiling ceremony also formed part of the programme as Chairs and a Mixer were unveiled. The mixer will be used in the technical department, as it will help boost the sound system during church services and other programmes.
A song ministration was done by the church’s choir “Hosanna Choir”.
Sis Matilda Campbell, the church administrator and also a four-times past winner, did the closing courtesies, appreciating everybody present.
