The Freetown City Council on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, commenced its 2025 annual work plan preparation and budget hearing exercise with ministries departments and agencies, MDAs, implementing devolved functions as well as setting targets for its revenue generation departments.
The exercise, chaired by the Deputy Mayor, Kweku Lisk saw MDAs within the municipality also accounting on how funds devolved to them by central government were being utilized.
A Budget and Finance Committee, comprising councilors and technical staff will spend the rest of the week vetting presentations from representatives of devolved MDAs and council’s revenue generation departments.
‘’In this exercise, we don’t only accept what MDAs show us but we also emphasize that all the sectors under our purview provide sufficient evidence in terms of impact and other tangibles about how they utilized public money. This is no more business as usual,’’ said Deputy Mayor Lisk who also emphasized FCC’s unwavering commitment to monitor the implementation of development projects.
The exercise will conclude with a public presentation of the Annual Work Plan and budget on Saturday.
