Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.3 on Thursday sent Foday Sesay, a footballer, to prison over allegation of larceny.
He was arraigned on one count charge of larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916
According to the chargesheet, the accused on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Evangel Bible College compound, Murray Town in Freetown did steal ten rubber tables each valued at one thousand five hundred Leones (NLe1,500), totaling fifteen thousand Leones(NLe15,000) property of Edward Brainard Gomar .
The accused pleaded not guilty of the offense when the charge was read and explained to him.
Led in evidence by Chief Inspector Macauley, the witness Reverend Edward Gomar recognized the accused and said that on February 16, 2023 he was at home when he received a call from one Mardalen informing him that the accused entered into the said compound of the church and stole 10 tables.
He said that upon receipt of the information he went to the crime scene and found out that the tables were missing, and immediately went to the Congo Cross Police station and made a report.
The witness was cross-examined by the accused himself because he was not represented by a lawyer in court.
The accused was refused bail by Magistrate Bangura. The matter comes up against March 10, 2023.
