FC Kallon of Sierra Leone has been knocked out of the African Confederation Cup second preliminary stage after a1-1 draw in the second leg which gives due advantage to the Ghanaian’s side who won the first leg 2-1 in Ghana only need to draw in the second leg, thus qualifying the Ghanaians to the group stage of the competition.
No Sierra Leonean club has reached the group stage of the second-tier competition of African club football since it was introduced in 2004.
In 2004, CAF merged the African Cup Winners’ Cup which was created in 1975 with the CAF Cup introduced in 1992 to form a new competition called the Confederation Cup, which has since been considered the second African club competition.
Consequently, kallon FC did not break the long deadlock for Sierra Leone which would have been a milestone in Sierra Leone football.
