Philip Teddy Thomas Dumbuya, commonly known as Teddy, a Gospel musician in the east of Freetown, on Tuesday July 9, 2024, officially released a new gospel song titled, ‘Water Sai Stone’.

The song inspires confidence in God as the source of life.

According to Teddy, no matter what a man does and goes through in life needs to put God above every other thing because God has never moved and would never move from his position.

He said that gospel music is church music, but it has a deeper meaning than what is considered of it by many people. “In general, gospel music is a genre of Christian music which means good news. The music is joy and hope; it helped African American slaves to go through their daily challenges and still have hope and faith,” he said.

He further said that if one experiences a sense of emptiness in the soul, a great gospel song had the capacity and enrichments to cleanse and fill the soul, hence lifting the spirit.

Teddy, who is an instrumentalist and vocal coach, started a career in music at age 4 through ministering other Gospel musicians’ songs in church.

He explained that he got inspiration from the environment to write some of his music and also wrote from his personal experiences.

He says that he does Pop, Gospel, Funk, Country and Afro music, and has imbued knowledge in music from the church where he serves as a chorister. He narrated, “One of the musicians who really inspired me in my music career was my father. He also was a gospel musician in the 90’s.I had the talent, but he was the one who inspired me, nurtured me , gave me the platform, ushered me and gave me all what it takes to become a musician.”

He has released songs like, ‘Lay for you’, and ‘The Ocean Divider’.
