The Sierra Leone National Commission on Small Arms (SLENCSA) in collaboration with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces will undertake demolition exercise of 7,769 unserviceable high explosives and incineration of 622,879 small arms ammunition, SLENCSA said in a statement on Friday.
Transportation of explosives will start from the 24h February to 7th March 2023. According to the statement, the demolition exercise commences from 13th March to 31st March 2023 at the following Controlled Demolition Sites (CDS) in Gondama, Daru, Kambia, Kabala and Armed Forces Training Centre (AFTC) Benguema.
According to those who are familiar with the exercise, almost all the unserviceable explosives and ammunition will be collected from RSLAF.
“The Commission hereby encourages all persons residing in GONDAMA, DARU, KAMBIA, KABALA, AFTC, BENGUEMA and their environs to be calm and to continue with their normal activities as their safety is of utmost concern to the Commission.”
