last Saturday Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB) defeated the winner of the four-team gala Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB)1-0 at the police field in Kingtom. The only goal was scored by Saidu Tom Kargbo.
The purpose of the four-team gala is to foster good relationships among the banks. Three matches were played on Saturday including a comic female match between SLCB Vs RCB. The SLCB won the comic match by 1-0 with the goal scored by Albertina Kanu.
Also, a male managerial match was played between SLCB Vs RCB, and again it was won by SLCB with the only goal scored by Osman Barrie from the penalty spot after a tackle in the 18-yard box.
Rokel Commercial Bank who won the gala battled it out with the anniversary bank SLCB in a friendly match as the champions played champions. The SLCB for the third tines won that match by 1-0.
The atmosphere on Saturday was superb with lots of bankers at the police field cheering their colleagues with banking slogans.
The deputy Managing Director of Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, Festus Sowa, who was the Captain of the SLCB Managerial team, expressed gratitude to the banks for their participation in the football gala.
He said that SLCB is a Sierra Leonean bank that is why they won all three matches because they serve the nation.
Certificates were given to all participating players from all four banks – Rokel Commercial Bank, Union Trust Bank, Bank of Sierra Leone, Eco Bank, and Vista Bank. Also, awards were given to Best player Abdul A. Mansaray of Eco Bank, Best Defender Alpha Umaru of Union Trust Bank, Best Goalkeeper Lamin Kabia of Rokel Commercial Bank, Highest Goal Scorer Sheriff Koroma of Eco Bank while the forth place Trophy goes to Bank of Sierra.
Certificates were also given to the four Banks, and the champion’s Trophy was given to Rokel Commercial Bank.
The football competitions were held as part of the commemoration of 50th anniversary of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank.
