One of Serra Leone’s revered judges, Justice Bintu Fatamatta Alhadi has been called to the Bench of the Middle Temple Inn of England and Wales.
She is not only the first Sierra Leonean but the first African to be called to that Bench.
Justice Alhadi is a Justice of the Court of appeal in Sierra Leone. She graduated from the Roehampton Institute of the University of Surrey (as it then was) in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts#. Later, she graduated with LLM in International Finance and Banking Law from the University of Liverpool. She was called to the Bar in 2001. She was the Company Secretary of the Guarantee Trust Bank (SL) Ltd. She briefly headed the Legal Department of the Financial Intelligence Unit of Sierra Leone.
Justice Alhadi was appointed a judge of the High Court where she sat in commercial, crime and civil Anti-Coruption Division. In July 2020, she was elevated to the Court of Appeal. She has taught Ethics at the Sierra Leone Law School and now teaches Commercial Law.
